It’s the social distancing summer of 2020 in Houston, and that begs the question — how do you safely beat the heat? This season, we’re re-highlighting some of our favorite things to do in town, from visiting the best hotel pools, and close-by Galveston beach to indulging in local fare and taking in the arts of our expansive Museum District… online, of course. Let us guide you through the city, so you can experience H-Town like a local.

We are re-introducing our 2020 winter issue, as the great band, gracing our cover and continuing to rock online is the local Gulf Coast soul band, The Suffers. In this issue of HHM, bandmates Kam Franklin and Nick Zamora discuss their love of Houston and what ultimately inspires their music. The city has played an integral role in the band’s success, and they continue to celebrate their roots, even as their international fan base expands. And that’s just the beginning. From nontoxic skin care to size-inclusive fashion, our city is full of innovative brands that are exploding onto the scene. Discover our fave finds in “Take Note,” our health and wellness feature.

As we know, our beloved Houston Stock Show and Rodeo was cancelled this year, to re-open, hopefully, by winter 2021, but we’ll whisk you away to Houston’s favorite tradition on our pages–the Rodeo–for a walk done memory lane!

Our guide to the grounds will help you navigate through the sometimes-overwhelming amount of Rodeo festivities. From family-friendly activities to venue tips, we have you covered. But before you make your way to NRG Park, discover our “Rodeo Ready Gift Guide” a curated selection of western-themed items that are sure to help you stand out in style. In it, you’ll find some of our favorite Texas-inspired gifts to elevate any wardrobe and enhance every home. We’ll steer you in the right direction, so you can score some of Houston’s must-haves.

Since you’re in the culinary capital of the Southwest, be sure to check out “Brunches, Bars and Bites” for the best deals and newest eateries our foodie town has to offer. Looking for something a little heartier? We’ve rounded up the best chophouses in town in our “Steak Section.” You can’t come to Texas without savoring the local fare, and we know good steak! Be sure to click the web address of the venue of your choice to find out if reservations are needed thanks to COVID ever-updating protocols.

Before you go, we decided to leave the guide as it was  in winter 2020, for this re-purposed issue, to look back at how vibrant a city Houston really is, and stay top of mind, it will be again before we know it! Houston IS one of the best and biggest Texas cities to visit for the newest trend in travel, bleisure, (business/leisure) in the USA!!

So browse  “The Scene,” our entertainment calendar, for an insider’s look at over 250 of Houston’s best performances, festivals and can’t-miss events as they were scheduled for spring2020.  Spend some time with our comprehensive listing of Houston sporting events (go, Rockets!), and remember some of our favorite places to dine, shop and explore around town. Lots will be back in full force in 2021!

Thank you for choosing Houston Hotel Magazine as your guide to the best of Clutch City. We’re glad you’re here, planning to come here, but most importantly, planning to return. H-Town loves its visitors from near and far!!
