Experience art in the heart of downtown Houston with Discovery Green’s fall art installation! From September 29 until October 7, experience the 22 oversized illuminated moons transform the park into a dreamy realm of light and good times.

As part of its Fall 2018 programming schedule, Houston’s beloved Discovery Green presents moonGARDEN, an art installation that will illumine Houston with gigantic beautiful moons that will activate from 6 p.m. until midnight from September 29 until October 7. These 22 spheres were designed by Lucion Traveling Light of Montreal and mark the largest moonGARDEN installation in the U.S.

The installation is an interactive experience as some of the spheres will shadow puppetry presentations. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through the park, gazing at the enormous structures that will light up the entire area.  To complement the gorgeous artwork, Discovery Green will also showcase a variety of moon-themed events visitors can attend while spending time in the moonlight.

October at Discovery Green is bursting with celebration and excitement. Located in downtown Houston, this 12 acre park is a popular place for events for all ages in an area bustling with activity. The park has continuously been celebrated for bringing Houston together. This installation is no exception with events that will attract visitors from all corners of the city.

Opening Night (September 29, 7:30pm) Visitors can expect a performance of Lyrical by  Cirque la Vie and a screening of the 1988 film Moonstruck.

September 30th (7:30-10pm) Enjoy a romantic night under the moons at the “Moon Dance” where visitors can take dance lessons, meet with poetry buskers, and more.

October 5 (7-9pm) Families are welcome for a pajama party with children’s stories from celebrity readers, milk and cookies, and telescopes for stargazing.
