A Little Piece of France in Midtown: Bienvenue to Cafe Poêtes

in Dining & Nightlife by

French Cafe and Wine Club, Cafe Poêtes was started by Karine Favre-Massartic, a French woman turned Houstonian this past February and after 15 years in Houston, she was craving a little piece of home in Houston. Every detail from the crown molding to the thoughtfully curated book collection on the bookshelves are hand picked by Karine and are a nod to not just her personal ties to France, but classic French culture as well.

Both the menu and the aesthetics recreate an authentic French cafe. Right when you walk in you feel as if you have stepped into Paris, with high ceilings and a flood of natural light, it’s the perfect escape. The building was erected from the ground up to mimic the French architectural design of an Orangerie – a building created in the 16th century as dedicated greenhouses, so the royals could grow orange and lemons trees throughout the year.

The menu reflects this inspiration as well with fresh daily juicea, lemongrass lemonade, and timeless tea. With the start of summer, Cafe Poêtes just introduced a new extensive Summer Brunch menu featuring avocado and eggs with goat cheese, salmon and artichokes with house made country bread and an array of fresh tartines!

Visit Cafe Poêtes in the heart of Midtown Tuesday-Thursday 9 am – 7 pm, Friday-Saturday 9 am – 11 pm and Sunday 9 am – 7 pm.  Au revoir!
