You needn’t be from Houston to know of chef Hugo Ortega.

Co-owner of H-Town Restaurant Group with restaurateur and wife Tracy Vaught, chef Hugo is renowned in the restaurant world for his dynamic dishes and unparalleled flavors. Earlier this year, he took home a James Beard Award – and the accolades keep on coming. Only yesterday, The Houston Chronicle released its Top 100 Restaurants, and two of H-Town Restaurant Group’s eateries topped the list: Xochi achieved number one, and Hugo’s shone at number six.

Chef Hugo’s award-winning namesake restaurant has been bringing authentic Mexican cuisine to Houston since its opening in 2002, celebrating regional ingredients prepared in traditional fashion. This month, Hugo’s is celebrating corn, a staple food in Mexico, with fresh corn tamales.
