Twice a year, Houston is treated to one of the very best home décor and design markets around: DASH (an acronym for Design-Art-Style-Home). This expertly-curated, four-day event brings some of the best local and national vendors of antiques, art, textiles, clothing, jewelry and more to Houston, producing a market that’s versatile, comprehensive, and just plain fun. DASH Spring Market launches at Silver Street Studios on Thursday, April 26 and runs through Sunday, April 29—circle those dates in red on your calendar!
Whether you have an upcoming occasion, special night out, or just love to look your best, there’s one beauty routine that’s a cut above the rest: Blowouts from Drybar. The service is just as luxurious as it sounds, too. Forget the cut and color—blowouts are all about getting gorgeous locks, from a show stopping updo to mermaid waves.
Houston has always been a great place to treat yourself to fantastic hair. Drybar has two beautiful boutiques in River Oaks and Uptown Park, and they’ve recently announced the grand opening of a brand new location: Sugar Land in First Colony, which will debut on Friday, April 13.
The new spot is a gorgeous girls’ retreat, with almost 1,500 square feet of space, 10 styling chairs, and too-cute-to-be-true décor: Think custom Italian chairs, tufted fabric walls, marble bars with built-in phone docking stations, and flat screens featuring cult favorite chick flicks. As with every Drybar location, over-the-top customer service and attention to detail will be at the core of your experience—perfect for brides, bachelorettes, and Southern socialites.
Signature in-shop services will include the Classic Blowout, Uptini (an updo), Mudslide Treatment, Bay Breeze Hydrating Shot, Shirley Temple (special service available for ages 10 and under), Barfly Memberships, Dry Pro styling, weddings, group specials, and parties. The Drybar menu has a look for every hair need.
Drybar’s new Sugar Land in First Colony location debuts on Friday, April 13. Its address is 16535 Southwest Freeway Sp 3015, and hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. till 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. These hours are tentative and subject to change.

The beauty industry is constantly evolving, always bringing us inspiring looks and new things to try. One of today’s biggest trends? Eyelash extensions. It’s no mystery why this unique service has become so popular — not only do extensions enhance the appearance of eyelashes, but they also eliminate the need for mascara. Lash volume and a low-maintenance beauty routine? Yes, please.
Despite thermometers indicating otherwise, it is officially fall! Because of the Houston heat, you will need transitional pieces that can be draped on or taken off when temperatures are sliding between 85 and 60 degrees. These pieces probably already have a place in your closet, so in that spirit, I’ve featured some wardrobe items from my own closet with suggestions on where you can shop around Houston to grab similar looks of your own! Here are three staples to keep close at hand as the seasons (slowly) turn.
Houston is the most diverse city in the United States, and proud of it.
Evidence of its rich culture abounds, making it one of the most exciting destinations in which to dine and shop. Furthermore, it’s a bustling scene for what’s next—creative new concepts favor Houston’s enthusiastic audience and strong economy, bringing new stars to a sky that’s shining brighter by the moment. One of the city’s latest and greatest style debuts? Collectivo.
It’s only natural that one of Houston’s favorite shopping destinations should spread its wings. Tootsies Takes Off landed last season in an annex right across from its flagship namesake in the beautiful West Ave development, just below Milk + Honey.
