The ICE at Discovery Green

Discovery Green’s Unlikely Houston Tradition

in Things To Do by

For the tenth year in a row, anyone spending the holiday season in Houston can partake in a wintry tradition ordinarily reserved for those in cooler climes: An outdoor ice rink.

The ICE at Discovery Green powered by Green Mountain Energy boasts 7,716 square feet of smooth skating surface with unbeatable downtown views. Situated within Discovery Green, a 12-acre jewel of downtown Houston known for its green space and public events, a trip to the ICE affords easy access to the best that Houston has to offer. It’s the largest outdoor skating rink in the greater Southwest and the perfect way to kick off family night, date night, or any occasion in between.

This city has a way of surprising you, from its proud display of diversity to a blossoming food scene that rivals that of any U.S. city. A trip to a 22-degree winter wonderland rates among the best of Houston’s unexpected delights.

The ICE at Discovery Green glides through the rest of the holiday season before ending on Sunday, January 21. Tickets are available onsite and online, range from $8 to $17, and include skate rental.
