Houston restaurants are renowned, and for good reason: They’re as plentiful as they are delicious. With so many fantastic options, it can be difficult to choose favorites… until it isn’t.
Extra! Extra! Eat all about it! The Hard Rock Café’s World Burger Tour is back in H-town, tearin’ up tastebuds with a menu of unique international burgers. Through June 25, the Houston Hard Rock will offer a seven-burger lineup, each made with a Certified Angus Beef® patty and packed with local flavors from the cities they represent.
BRUNCH @ THE HONEYMOON CAFÉ & BAR
Start your day off in Downtown Houston with brunch at the quaint Honeymoon Café & Bar. Enjoy a cup of coffee from Houston’s own Boomtown Coffee makers or an artisanal cocktail (we won’t judge). Choose from the New Orleans influenced menu with plates like fried shrimp po-boys, duck and sausage gumbo, and, of course, bread pudding. Wait times can be long, so call ahead or try to arrive before 10 a.m. If you do find yourself waiting for a table, take a stroll through the historic buildings around Market Square, or snap a pic of the restaurant’s iconic flower wallpaper—considered to be the most photographed wallpaper in Houston. Brunch is held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
If you love food and are in Houston, then you’re in luck. Not only is Houston consistently ranked as one of the best cities to dine in the entire US, but for over a month you can dine out as part of Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW). From August 1 to September 5, if you visit a participating restaurant and order off their HRW menu, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Houston Food Bank.
One of Houston’s finest gems is the Heights neighborhood. Named from its location 23 feet above Downtown Houston, the Heights dates back to the 1800s and is one of the earliest planned communities in Texas. The neighborhood is filled with adorable bungalows, huge shady trees, and Victorian architecture.
While Texas is often known for its rich and cheesy Mexican dishes and heaping plates of barbeque, the diverse cosmopolitan of Houston restaurants offers plenty of options to balance out heavier dishes. Located in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston, Local Foods has a delightfully healthy menu packed with super-foods that will leave you feeling guilt-free no matter how much you eat–even the cocktails! They offer a selection of sandwiches and salads prepared with, you guessed it, local ingredients that change seasonally.
