Here in Houston, we are known for our amazing Tex-Mex and that means one thing this time of year – all out Cinco de Mayo celebrations. This year, (Sunday, May 5th) Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby (Saturday, May 4th) fall on the same weekend, which means double the fun! We have rounded up the top places to celebrate both holidays.
Julep is hosting their 5th annual Derby Day party on Saturday, starting at 12 pm. The celebration will include two screens showing the race, lawn games, a spritz bar, mint julep bars, three cocktail bars, a DJ, live music, and more. Tickets available here.
Goodnight Charlie’s is having a Derby Day Garden Party with Maker’s Mark on Saturday from 4-7 pm. There will be live music by the Buffalo Nickel Bluegrass Band and the William and the Texas Starlight. The Kentucky Derby will be shown on a big screen for you to enjoy while entering the Best Hat Contest. Tickets available here.
Eight Row Flint will be celebrating Derby Day on Saturday with a snow cone machine featuring $8 Snow Cone Juleps as well as $10 Mint Juleps. Then come Sunday, Cinco de Mayo, there will be $8 Margaritas on the rocks and $15 Big Ass Frozen Margaritas all day long.
Brasserie 19 will be hosting a Kentucky Derby Social on Saturday from 12-7 pm with a hat contest, drink specials and more.
Miss Carousel is celebrating their first Cinco de Mayo with a special menu featuring all the Tex-Mex classics and drink specials.
Hugo’s is celebrating all weekend long with daily drink specials and an extensive Sunday brunch buffet.
