California implant Bosscat arrived on the Houston restaurant scene earlier this year, and they’ve been taking it by storm with a clever menu of comfort food, elevated with contemporary flavors. Chef Peter Petro leads the crowd-drawing charge with his popular dishes, and his special Houston Restaurant Weeks dinner menu is a real winner.
Dinner ($35, $5 donated) is a mouthwatering combination of soul-satisfying southern fare and exciting flavor pairings. The Boneless Korean Style Short Rib (second course; gochujang mac + corn, kimchi, parmesan) and Vietnamese Gulf Tuna Wraps (first course; pickled vegetables, jalapeno, cilantro, butter leaf lettuce) are two noteworthy examples, while the beloved Burger + Bosscat Fries also makes a welcome appearance on the second course list. The third and final course features three tempting dessert choices: Bourbon Milk Cake, Louisiana Peach Cobbler, or Chocolate + PB + Bacon (a brownie).
