Chef Chris Cosentino, winner of Top Chef Masters and co-owner of San Francisco’s Cockscomb, Jackrabbit in Portland, Oregon, and Acacia House in the Napa Valley, has opened his first restaurant in Houston. Located in the C.Baldwin Hotel, Rosalie Italian Soul is named after his great-grandmother Rosalie Cosentino, a first-generation Italian immigrant who inspired his career in cooking. Read more about the story and inspiration behind Rosalie here.
The menu is full of both classic Italian dishes that Chris learned from his great-grandmother along with dishes that showcase his culinary talents. Highlights include, Arancini (crispy risotto balls, pesto aioli), Local Vegetable Fritto Misto (green beans, okra, fennel, kale, lemons, castelvetrano olives & whipped ricotta dip), Eggplant Parmesan, Bistecca Fiorentina (44 Farms, potato, fennel, picked peppers, red & green sauces) pizzas and more. Pastas are made fresh daily, and include a Rigatoni, Blue Crab Manicotti, Strozzapreti, Ravioli and more.
The cocktail list features original cocktails inspired by Italian classics and ingredients such as, The Persephone (fernet, an amaro invented in Milan in 1845, lush pineapple, the acidity of lime and peppery note of rye) and The Hugo Spritz (a refreshing take on the classic Italian aperitivo, is made with St-Germain, Prosecco, cucumber water and lime juice).
Like everything at the C.Baldwin Hotel the decor of Rosalie is impeccable. A mix of a 1970’s kitchen and Italian mid-century modern, accomplished through contrasting materials, textures and patterns, and timeless accessories that create an eclectic, but elevated space.
