Unique Ice Cream Lands in Historic Heights Neighborhood

in Dining & Nightlife by

In 2002, James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, Jeni Britton Bauer opened Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in Columbus, Ohio. Over the past 17 years, the company has grown far beyond a small Ohio creamery thanks to nationwide distribution. Luckily, you can now try all of their one-of-a kind flavors at their newest Heights location.

…we kept hearing from people: please come to Houston, you need to open in Houston.

Even with only 7 nationwide locations Jeni’s has become a household name due to their online shipping program, unique flavors and fresh ingredients. Their first shipment to Houston was in 2006, making it a no-brainer to open a storefront.

“We love the energy of the Heights. The food scene is super fun—we like being close to Ford Fry’s restaurants whenever we can, if for no other reason than we can eat there more often. I’m excited to be close to Justin Yu’s spots. The good thing about being surrounded by talent is you can’t help but up your game, and we’re looking forward to serving our ice creams in the neighborhood.” says Bauer.

Their top flavors include, Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks, Goat Cheese with Red Cherries, Coffee with Cream & Sugar, Brambleberry Crisp and many more.

Visit Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Sunday through Thursday 12-10 pm and Friday + Saturday 12-11 pm.
