Taste Bar + Kitchen opened in the heart of midtown last month and is predicted to be the newest hot spot. They quickly stirred up buzz with their globally inspired and photo-ready menu and space. Co-founders, Chef Don Bowie, and Kevin Kelley came together to bring together their unique skill sets and open the restaurant they have always dreamed of going.
The two-story converted 113-year-old home features two unique concepts, a downstairs bistro, and an urban chic bar and restaurant upstairs. Upon entering the second floor you will be greeted with navy velvet chairs, a large gold bar, and modern light fixtures. Between the second floor patio and the vast front terrace, it is the perfect place to spend the day or evening during the warmer months ahead.
The menu revolves around the chef’s unique approach on the classic chicken and waffles. A few standout pairings are General Tao’s Chicken + Waffles, Jamaican Jerk Chicken + Waffles and Vegan Chicken + Waffles (chicken fried cauliflower with vegan waffles). There are also over six different specialty waffles including, fruity pebbles, red velvet, and pecan praline. No matter if you want sweet or savory there is something for you.
Alongside the indulgent menu are even more playful drink options. Chef Bowie and his team make their own craft soda including a delicious vintage rootbeer. Believe it or not, the cocktail menu is possibly even more insta-worthy than the waffles. Our favorite is the Cotton Candy Cocktail (Rosé Vodka, pink cotton candy, fresh strawberry, lime juice) that includes fresh cotton candy and comes to life at your table.
