Backstage Pass: An Inside Look of Backstage at Rodeo Houston

in Profiles/Shopping & Style by

We got an exclusive sneak peek with designer, Torie Halbert of To the T. Interiors, of the incredible backstage set up created for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year.  Torie, who has been a Rodeo committee member for 12 years, has been designing backstage for the show for 7 years now and she just keeps outdoing herself!  Bringing elements of Houston into each of the 6 rooms backstage, she’s showcasing just how great the city is and leaving a lasting impression on the biggest music artists in the country, just before and after they hit the stage.  These rooms are available to the performers to get ready before the show, unwind afterward, and receive their commemorative belt buckles, the Rodeo’s version of a trophy for playing the big stage.

The Buckle Room

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of touring a backstage before, you’d know this is the creme de la creme of them all!  Making it nearly impossible for an artist to not come back to play the Rodeo… that and the thrill of playing the biggest Rodeo in the world! The majority of the furniture shown is all custom designed by Torie and inspires the theme of each room. Every year, Torie is meticulous about creating unique accents that will not only complete the room, but make the artists feel at home.

The Star Room

Torie has been designing since 1998 and started her own firm, To The T., in 2006. Shortly thereafter, in 2009, she was a finalist on season 4 of HGTV Design Star. From there, she’s gone on to design hundreds of custom and model homes for local Houstonians, country music stars and more.

Her style is the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary, with a hint of southern charm. She brings this same element of design to her other business, Strom Rinzen, where she creates Texas made leather goods, including one-of-a-kind deer hide clutches, beautiful custom furniture and gorgeous leather belts.
